EAGLE ENSURES DELIVERIES OF GRAVE IMPORTANCE

Ensuring deliveries reach their final resting place has always been dead important
to Eagle Couriers, Scotland's leading independent courier company.

But one package in particular was of grave importance - an urn of human remains
which was to be transported from Edinburgh to Ireland.

The spooky service came to light when Eagle Couriers, who have bases in Edinburgh
and Glasgow, revealed a list of its most unusual deliveries in 2007.

Graham Macpherson, Director of Eagle Couriers, said: "We do get some strange things
to take around Scotland and further afield but this one was particularly unnerving.

"The poor driver came in that morning and was told he was going to Ireland that day.
When we passed him the urn he looked rather baffled and once he realised what it was
he went as white as a ghost.

"At least he had a quiet travel companion for the long journey."

The hand of death does not stop there for the company. It also delivers wills and
death certificates between law firms and families from its Edinburgh and Glasgow
bases.

And in another delivery the driver literally passed on a gift from the grave. Upon
entering an office with elusive Take That tickets under his arm he expected to be
met with an eager husband excited to please his wife.

But the husband, who had bought the tickets as a surprise, had died in between the
tickets being ordered, so they were redirected to the wife.

Graham said: "What we are delivering always means something to someone - sometimes
this can make them very sad but often very happy.

-more-
"There's a whole load of things that we are asked to deliver, often things that you
would not expect to involve a courier firm. It just shows how flexible and adaptable
we can be.

"When it is something important and a bit unusual it certainly makes things that bit
more interesting for us. But at the end of the day, a package is a package and our
only aim is to ensure it is delivered. We use our dedicated and responsible service
and drivers to ensure each delivery reaches its destination timely, safely and in
the condition we received it."

But Eagle Couriers is not the kiss of death - in fact some of their deliveries save
lives.

It delivers specialist medication to sick patients at home and moves samples for a
biopharmaceutical research company.

It also transports blood samples and works for St Columbus Hospice. And its medical
work is not limited to humans - it is also responsible for moving around vital blood
samples for vets.

Eagle Couriers enjoys an expanding 3500-strong client base, ranging from blue chip
household names like the BBC and BT, to sole traders, all receiving exactly the same
standard of fast, professional, expert service. The company's success is built on
excellent customer service and competitive prices, guaranteeing same day/next day
deliveries to local, national and international destinations.
